Wishing you all a very happy New Year 2020. Golden Turmeric Milk / Panang Karkandu Manjal Paal is my first blog post for this year. Hope this year gives more time for blogging 🙂 Amma (mom) sent homemade organic turmeric powder (refer pic below) made using Erode manjal which got its geographical indication last year. The picture shared below is the fresh turmeric plants with roots which was grown by my mom and harvested for this Thai Pongal.
So they clean and dry the turmeric root and powder it (actually i don’t have details for making turmeric powder at home, wish I make it soon). Apart from regular day to day cooking with turmeric powder this golden milk is much needed when adults or kids get cold , congestion or cough. I bought some Palm Candy and my MIL also sent a packet of Palmyra candy last year. If you ask where to buy in US please check Amazon or Ebay they have few sellers for both turmeric powder and palm candy.
Palm candy / Panang kalkandu , a natural sweetener is very good for health especially it is a very good remedy for sore throat, cough, respiratory infection etc. Coming to the recipe I have mentioned several alternatives and variations to this Golden Turmeric Milk Recipe so do check the Notes section at the bottom of this post. Also I am going to come up with several interesting Turmeric Recipes soon so stay tuned 🙂
