Radish Seed Pods Potato Stir Fry | Mogri Aloo Sabzi | Sengre Aloo Dry Sabzi : Each year the season gets colorful in my garden because of the radish flowers (refer picture below). The first thing I sow in my garden after the frost is probably the radish seeds (this year my neighbor shared those seeds) and so the first bloom is none other than these radish flowers. They are pretty blooms in white and purple colors, I guess
both are two different varieties. I decorate dessert with these flowers as well. I sow seeds after the last frost thinking that I get more radishes in spring. But what I usually get are very tiny radishes and sometimes nothing in the root but in turn it gives enormous radish seed pods (refer picture below) that way it wont disappoint me. I use the pods almost a month by keeping them in the refrigerator and not in freezer. Yes I have given “Storing Tips” at the end of this same post.
Radish seed pods has different names like mogri , mongre , mungre, mooli pods , moongre , mooli ki phali , sengri etc. Also I use Radish Leaves to make Chutney and Variety Rice.
How to make as No Onion No Garlic Recipe?
Somedays I make this dish with onions and garlic and sometimes not. Refer the video tutorial at minutes to check the no onion and no garlic version. So do skip those two ingredients in the below list and do prepare accordingly.
How to Clean and Cut Radish Pods
- Choose tender pods for this recipe (Pic 1).
- Once picked from the garden (Pic 2& 3), take necessary pods and store remaining for later use.
- Rinse the whole radish pods before trimming the edges (Pic 4).
- If they are tender, slice it in to halve vertically (Pic 5 & 6), used this style cutting for Instant Pot version.
- If not it takes long time to cook, so chop in to tiny pieces (refer step by step picture below in the “Preparation” subheading).
- Otherwise slit matured pods into halve and cook in pressure cooker for few minutes, refer video @4:18minutes, I did so for Mogre Aloo Sabzi ie another curry recipe.

Storing Tips
I am sharing some tips, how I store the radish pods to use it later within a month.
- Don’t wash the radish seed pods, if there is any excess moisture do dry using damp cloth.
- Pierce holes in the ziplock bag you store with wooden skewer like shown in the video tutorial.
- Add the fresh radish pods in the prepared bags.
- Keep in the refrigerator and not in the freezer.
- Whenever necessary do take it out and immediately store the remaining back in the refrigerator.
